02/04/21 Evil Is as Evil Does

The latter half of the 20th century and into the 21st century has shown a loss of the meaning of evil. In the first half of the 20th century, it was easier to identify evil. Nazism, Fascism, and Communism, and those that led these movements - Hiller, Mussolini, Lenin/Stalin, and Mao Zedong, amongst other despots - were easily identified as evil. The gross violation of the Natural Rights of their victims, along with the mass murder of their victims, were easily identified evils when they became known. However, these evil actions did not spring forth in full bloom, as they were preceded by a gradual erosion of the Natural Rights of the people. This is the true meaning of evil – the deprivation or elimination of Natural Rights.

The beginnings of true evil start with the beginning of the suppression of the "Natural, Human, and Civil Rights" of people, for when you suppress the Natural Rights of a person, you are perpetuating an evil upon this person. Much of this beginning of evil was cloaked in lofty goals to better the lives of the people under these regimes. And much of this beginning of evil used propaganda to scapegoat groups of people or to demonize those who would oppose this evil.

In modern America, the elimination of the immorality of Sexism, Intolerance, Xenophobia, Homophobia, Islamophobia, Racism, Bigotry, etc., has often been utilized to justify the suppression of Natural Rights. It is quite proper to eliminate these ills in America, but it is not proper to do so by the suppression of the Natural Rights of Americans. We can, and should, make harmful acts of these ills illegal when they occur, but not suppress the Natural Rights of someone before they commit harmful acts. We can, and should, condemn and excoriate anyone who would propagate these ills, but not by suppressing their Natural and Constitutional rights. For the Natural and Constitutional rights of all is our best defense against evil.

Those that think that this suppression is acceptable are misguided, but those who engage in this suppression are evil. Those of us who engage in this suppression, as I have written in my “Terminology” webpage; Progressives/Leftists, Mainstream Cultural Media, Mainstream Media, Modern Big Business, Modern Education, Social Media, Political Correctness, Virtue Signaling, Cancel Culture, Doxing, Wokeness, Identity Politics, and Greater Good verses the Common Good, are starting down the road of suppression which will eventually result in the triumph of evil in America. All Americans should arise in defense of our “Freedoms, Liberties, Equalities, and Equal Justice for All”, and this can only be accomplished via "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." Therefore, all Americans should be vigilant and defend our Constitutional ideals as a defense against evil.

03/02/21 Timshel - Man's Ability to Choose Between Good and Evil

Having just viewed the movie “East of Eden” and the television miniseries “East of Eden”, as well as reading the novel “East of Eden”, I was struck by the theme of Good and Evil and the Bibles view of it. Upon doing some research on this theme, I came upon the following article from “Oprah.com” that I believe is a succinct examination of the Bibles view of Good and Evil:

“Here is individual responsibility and the invention of conscience. Toy can if you will but it is up to you. This little story [from the Bible] turns out to be one of the most profound in the world. I always felt it was but now I know it is.”
 - John Steinbeck, Journal of a novel.

 “Steinbeck's East of Eden is a book about us all, descendants of Cain, who, according to the New Jerusalem Bible, "appears to be the builder of the first city and ancestor of stock-breeders, musicians, smiths and possibly prostitutes." Like all of us, Cain had free will to decide between good and evil. In this semi-autobiographical work, Steinbeck does not envision a virginal Eden as our birthright. As much as we inherit Cain's curse, we also inherit his ability to redeem himself.

The main theme for East of Eden turns on the correct translation of the Hebrew word timshel, translated differently in various versions of the Bible. The word appears in the Cain and Abel story in Genesis, when God discusses sin with Cain.

What is the true meaning of this passage?

(a) God promises Cain that he will conquer sin ("thou shalt rule over him")?

(b) God orders Cain to conquer sin ("Do thou rule over him")?

(c) God blesses Cain with free will, leaving the choice to him ("Thou mayest rule over him")?

By studying the passage in the Bible, Adam Trask's Chinese servant, Lee, helps characters Samuel and Adam understand the intended original meaning in this passage from East of Eden:

"...this was the gold from our mining: 'Thou mayest.' The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin (and you can call sin ignorance). The King James translation makes a promise in 'Thou shalt,' meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word timshel—'Thou mayest'—that gives a choice. For if 'Thou mayest'—it is also true that 'Thou mayest not.' That makes a man great and that gives him stature with the gods, for in his weakness and his filth and his murder of his brother he has still the great choice. He can choose his course and fight it through and win."

Here is the choice each of the characters in East of Eden face—as does, ultimately, every human being. No matter how deep-rooted the sin, there is always a chance for redemption. In the authoritative Orthodox Jewish translation from The Chumash: The Stone Edition the passage in question reads: "Surely if you improve yourself, you will be forgiven. But if you do not improve yourself, sin rests at the door. Its desire is toward you, yet you can conquer it."

To which I might add to the discussion on why a good God would permit both good and evil to exist in our world. The problem with the previous statement is the term ‘good God’. God is neither good nor evil, but simply is (“I am that I am”). God has given us his thoughts about good and evil, but God gave humans the free will to choose between good and evil. Consequently, it is not God who is responsible for good or evil, but the Free Will choice of an individual to choose good or evil that is the reason for good and evil in our world.

10/18/23 Unadulterated Evil

As President Biden has stated, the Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel are “unadulterated evil”. My righteous anger at the events of Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel has delayed my response to this event. This anger leads me to believe that the people who planned and carried out these evil attacks need to be eliminated as both retribution and deterrence from future evil acts. This anger is also directed at the people who supported these evil attacks, either by their silence or vocal support, and they need to be driven from our midst and consigned to wander a desolate wilderness (literally for those in the Middle East and figuratively for their supporters around the world). However, the return of my rational and reasonable thought has given me pause to determine the best course of action to undertake in a manner that confronts evil without trampling on the Natural Rights of others.

However, these attacks were an act of war, and in war, it is often not possible to preserve the Natural Rights of all in confronting evil. The only question is what the response to such unadulterated evil should be. The Biden response is pathetic, as it does not actively confront the evildoers nor their supporters. Consequently, all humanitarian peoples and governments must proceed as if we are at war with these evildoers and temper our concerns for Natural Rights to eliminate these evildoers.

As these attacks were planned and funded by Iran, the rulership in Iran must be destroyed and replaced by a humanitarian government. All members of Hamas (and Hezbollah) need to be executed for their crimes against humanity. As some of the people of Palestine had to know something was about to occur, and they did not even clandestinely inform Israeli authorities of such, they should be relocated away from Israel for the security of Israel and its people. In doing so, we should remember the words of the Civil War Union General William Tecumseh Sherman's Letter to Atlanta in our reasoning for doing so, as well as some other of his wisdom on war:

"Every attempt to make war easy and safe will result in humiliation and disaster."  - William Tecumseh Sherman

"We can make war so terrible and make them so sick of war that generations pass away before they again appeal to it."  - William Tecumseh Sherman

"War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want."  - William Tecumseh Sherman

As for the vocal supporters of these evil acts, they should be branded as enablers and be shunned by all decent law-abiding and peaceful persons. They have the freedom of speech to articulate their opinions, but decent people have the freedom of speech to condemn these enablers and the freedom to not associate with these enablers. Any group or organization that enables these evildoers should in no way receive any government funding, nor should any elected or appointed official that enables these evildoers be permitted to retain their office.

“Never Again” should mean never again, and we should wage war against these evildoers and censure their enables to ensure that it will never happen again. For those who are fearful of the possible terrible consequences that may be incurred from taking these actions, or those who believe that this evil has no direct consequences on America, I would remind them of the following words of warning:

"First, they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me." - Martin Niemöller

01/17/24 Totalitarian Evil: Crimes, Terror, Repression

In the 1997 book, “The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression” by Stéphane Courtois, Andrzej Paczkowski, Nicolas Werth, Jean-Louis Margolin, and several other European academics, the authors document a history of political repression by Communist states, including genocides, extrajudicial executions, deportations, and deaths in labor camps and artificially created famines.

05/12/24 Evil Disguised by Moral Equivalence

In the Ten Commandments of the Bible, Exodus 20:7 and Deuteronomy 5:11 states:

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain”, or "You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God" (NRSV) and its variants, is an admonishment to not do evil or justify evil in the name of God. It is considered a grievous sin and will not be tolerated by God. Those who aid or abet the evildoers are just as guilty of evildoing as the evildoers. Therefore, those who justify evil acts with moral equivalence are evildoers, as they are aiding and abetting the evildoers.

There is no doubt that the acts of Hamas and Hezbollah are evil, and those who justify these acts with moral equivalence are aiding and abetting the evildoers. Hence, the Palestine protesters across the world are as evil as the evildoers. It is also an unfortunate fact that the Biden Administration's tepid support for Israel, and sometimes hindrance of Israeli responses to evil, is aiding and abetting the evildoers. Thus, the Biden Administration has become evil.

While many would complain that this judgment of the Biden Administration is too harsh, this Commandment is harsh and unyielding and not subject to disputations by mere mortals. As the prophet Nathan called out the sins of David And Bathsheba, so must we call out the sins of the Biden Administration.

I am not a prophet of God, nor do I claim any special wisdom about God. But I can recognize evil when it rears its ugly head. I also recognize that to live a Godly life, you must confront and extinguish evil; otherwise, evil may triumph.

05/13/24 The Rise of Evil in America

As I have written in my Chirp on “05/16/24 Parallelism in America”, in today’s America, we are seeing a rise in evil. This rise has been illuminated by the current protests against Israel and for the Palestinian people. Make no mistake that these pro-Palestinian protests are nothing but a disguise for Anti-Semitism, as I have also Chirped on, "03/28/24 Modern Anti-Semitism".

The phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is nothing but a phrase for the elimination of Israel, for Israel is totally between the river and the sea. As I have written in my Chirp on "01/09/24 Virtual Signaling without Virtue", these protests are simply virtue signaling with little knowledge or comprehension as to what they are protesting. They certainly do not realize that they are engaged in evildoing.

This Anti-Semitism must be forthrightly confronted and condemned by all who oppose evil. There is no moral equivalency when confronting evil, and there is no temporizing with evil. It is time for all clergy to point out this evil of Anti-Semitism, condemn it, and urge their congregations to condemn Anti-Semitism whenever and wherever it arises. All politicians and community leaders should also join in this pointing out and condemning Anti-Semitism, and all Americans who believe in our American Ideals and Ideas and our Freedoms, Liberties, Equalities, and Equal Justice for All must condemn this Anti-Semitism.

For those who claim the situation in the Hamas-Israel conflict is complex, I am reminded of the thoughts of the famed Rabbi Jonathan Saks: 

“The Israeli-Hamas conflict is not complex. It's very simple: One side wants the other side dead.”  - Rabbi Saks

When one side wants the other side dead, it is not virtuous to support the side that wants the other side dead, and it is evil to aid and abet the other side who wants them dead. We all should also remember that:

Anti-Semitism must be confronted and condemned whenever it rears its ugly head. For history has shown that whenever it is not confronted and eliminated, it festers and grows to become a cancer that will eventually destroy society.

07/29/24 What Is Evil?

In today’s modern world, it is easy to discount evil as a psychiatric condition and/or relativistic or subjective to one’s personal knowledge, opinion, or experience. It is also easy for many to rank evil from pure evil to individual evil acts, although there is much disagreement amongst the different rankings. Whatever the root cause of evil or your ranking of evil, evil does exist, and some people are evil. The difficulty is defining what evil is and who the evil perpetrators are. This Chirp is not about evil persons; as much research and scholarly articles and books have been written about personal evil, I could not hope to contribute anything to this discussion. This Chirp is about the evil of governments and societies.

Governments and Societies can also be evil. Indeed, throughout history, most governments and societies have been evil to various degrees. For governments and societies, it is easy and proper to define a society or government as evil if they purposely violate the Natural Rights of individuals within their confines. While there are many Natural Rights that an individual person has, some of these Natural Rights are more pertinent to the discussion of evil. As I have written in my Chirp, “07/28/24 I Have the Natural Right”, there are ten prominent Natural Rights that, if violated by a government or society, allow us to define the society or government as evil and to rank their evilness based on the severity, number, and quantity of their evil acts. It is also possible to rank a government or society on its evilness by the structure of its government or the societal structure that supports its evil acts.

If you examine governments or societies throughout history through the lens of evilness, I believe that you gain an understanding that America has been one of the least evil governments and societies in history. Although America has had some evilness in its history (Slavery, Native Americans, Bigotry and Discriminations being the big three evilness), Americans have also recognized this evilness and taken actions to correct their evils. Our government or society was structured to preserve the natural rights of individuals and to take corrective actions to correct any wrongs that may occur in our government or society.

Many who decry America for its supposed inequities and evils do so through a standard of a Utopian society and government. A Utopian standard that can never be achieved due to the frailties of Human Nature and the invisible hand of Economics. Instead, we should be proud of our American Ideals and Ideas, and of our efforts to enshrine and preserve Natural Rights in our government and society, as well as to correct any evils that we may uncover in America. In our attempts to correct any perceived evils in our government or society, we should always remember to preserve our Natural Rights and the following:

"To deny human nature or economics, or to not acknowledge human nature or economics, is foolish. To do so will result in much effort, time, and monies being spent on a task that is doomed to failure."   - Mark Dawson

08/30/24 The Hallmarks of an Evil in Disguise

Evil always comes upon us in disguise, as without disguise, we would often reject evil. Evil also occurs when we temporize our morals and ethics and act without virtue. As such, evil always tries to disguise itself, for without disguise, it most often fails. Half-truths, falsehoods, deceptions, and cover-ups are the means that evil disguises itself. Evil often uses projections of its own evilness upon others (both the guilty and the innocent), as well as a tone of self-righteousness with a lack of self-awareness, as I have written in my Chirps on “08/28/24 Political Projectionism”, “08/08/24 Self-Righteousness”, and “08/09/24 Self-Awareness.

The modern history of the world has shown how disguised evil can be utilized to obtain power. From Lenin to Stalin, Mussolini to Hitler, Tojo to Moa, to Khamenei, Gaddafi, Hussien, and Arafat, along with a multitude of other tinpot leaders in the 20th and 21st centuries, evil rose to power through disguise. Once they had achieved power, the true nature of their evil was revealed. When such a person is in power and exercises their power, they bring suffering and misery to their people and the eventual collapse of their society.

Therefore, half-truths, falsehoods, deceptions, cover-ups, projectionism, self-righteousness, and a lack of self-awareness are the hallmarks of evil in disguise. When a leader utilizes these methods to obtain power, they are evil and are leading their people into evilness. When people are supportive of such a person, they are affiliated with the evil doings of such a person. When people give such a person power, they are complicit with evil.

Alas, we see such hallmarks in the 2024 Harris-Walz Presidential campaign, as they are utilizing these methods in their campaign to achieve election victory. If they achieve such a victory, it can be said that they are leading America into evilness. An evilness that will bring suffering and misery to the American people and the eventual collapse of America.

06/18/25 Eradicating Evil

When confronted with evil, evil must be eradicated. What comes next should be a concern, but not as much of a concern as eradicating evil. In eradicating evil it must be fully eradicated; otherwise, it will take root once again. Accordingly, do not be fearful of completely eradicating evil based on what may happen afterward. What happens afterward should be dealt with afterward, and it should not stay your hand in eradicating evil. Otherwise, you will allow evil to exist and persist to the detriment of all.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, established in 1979, is the perfect modern-day example of evil. Founded in evil, it has foisted evil upon the Middle East and other parts of the World since its founding. Its continual chants of ‘Death to Israel’ and ‘Death to America’, as well as its support of terrorism, betray its evil.

Iranian attempts to develop a nuclear weapon, along with the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile delivery system, are for the furtherance of their evil goals. Therefore, it is an existential threat to Israel, America, and any other country that will not defer to their evil intentions. This cannot be allowed to happen, and the recent Israeli action against Iran is, thus, an attempt to eradicate their evil intentions before they can achieve their nuclear weapon ambitions. In these attempts, they have been very successful, but they cannot completely eradicate Iranian evil intentions until they completely eradicate Iranian nuclear capabilities. Only America can finish the work that Israel has started, as some of the Iranian nuclear capabilities are buried deep underground, which Israel cannot destroy. America has a bunker-busting bomb, which no other country has, which can eradicate these underground facilities and, therefore, put an end to Iranian nuclear weapon aspirations.

Consequently, America must utilize these bunker-busting bombs to finish the eradication of the Iranian nuclear capabilities. To not do so is to allow evil to exist and persist in Iran. To those who do not support this action and/or are fearful of what may happen afterward, I would say that such inaction and caution in the 20th century led to mass deaths by Nazi, Fascist, Imperial Japanese, and Communists regimes. This is a mistake that we should not make once again with the current Iranian regime. And I would say it is the only moral thing to do, as eradicating evil is always the most moral and right thing to do.

09/14/25 So, Who Is Today’s Evil Party?

Evil, as a concept, is usually defined as profoundly immoral behavior, and it is related to acts that cause unnecessary pain and suffering to others. Evil is commonly seen as the opposite, or sometimes the absence, of good. It can be an extremely broad concept, although in everyday usage it is often more narrowly used to talk about profound wickedness and against the common good. It is generally seen as taking multiple possible forms, such as the form of personal moral evil commonly associated with the word, or impersonal natural evil, and in religious thought, the form of the demonic or supernatural/eternal.

Columnist Mark Lewis has an interesting point about evil in one of his articles, “The Democratic Party is Evil, And Has No Excuse For It”:

“America has always had murderers, of course, thugs, criminals, lewd fellows of the baser sort, etc. But what we're witnessing today is different. We're not seeing the isolated criminals who individually breaks away from societal mores, who is a social outcast, maybe mentally deranged, certainly morally so. No society in human history has ever escaped that sort of insect, which is why men have always resorted to some form of government (supposedly) designed to protect them from the dangerous animals who walk on two legs.”

Evil, for the purposes of this Chirp and as I have Chirp on "07/29/24 What Is Evil?", is defined as words and deeds that are an assault on the Natural Rights of an individual. As I have written in my Chirp on “09/10/25 Endowed by their Creator with Certain Unalienable Rights”, an individual has Certain Unalienable Rights that spring from Natural Law, as I have Chirped on "07/28/24 I Have the Natural Right". Among these rights are “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” as stated in the Declaration of Independence, and codified in the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution as:

Amendment I:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Amendment II:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Accordingly, anyone, or any group of people, who countenances, contravenes, or infringes on these Natural Rights is acting in an evil manner. If you examine the history of the modern Democrat Party, it is evident that they countenance, contravene, or infringe upon the Natural Rights of individuals in America:

• The mob actions in protest to President Trump’s second-term actions, in which people were injured, and property was damaged or destroyed.
• The racial riots in the summer of 2020, which resulted in the loss of lives, many injuries to people, and in which property was damaged or destroyed.
• Their conflating of Equity and Equality and their misuse of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to implement polices that discriminate for or against groups of Americans.
• Their implementation of sanctuary Cities and States that violates the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution as the "supreme Law of the Land” and, thus, takes priority over any conflicting state and local laws.
• Their lack of law enforcement, or selective enforcement of laws, which strikes at the heart of the equal protection of the law and endangers Americans by allowing criminals to roam free to harm their Safety and Security.
• Their physical obstructionism of law enforcement officers in the performance of their legal duties which endangers all in proximity to these legal actions.
• Their use of Activists and Activism for Social Justice purposes which often infringes on the Natural Rights of Americans through the unequal treatment of individuals or groups of Americans.
• Their use of Cancel Culture, Doxing, and Swatting, along with condemnations of anti-Wokeness speech and Hate Speech accusations, for the purpose of intimidating into silence and suppressing the Free Speech rights of those that oppose them.
• Their use of Identity Politics and Intersectionality, along with Racist and White Privilege accusations to divide Americans, instead of uniting us in our shared principles of Freedoms, Liberties, Equalities, and Equal Justice for All for the common good of America and Americans.
• Their use of Judicial Activism to stall the lawful and needful actions of the Executive Branch of government, and which also usurps the Constitutional powers of the Presidency.
• Their use of Lawfare and The Weaponization of Government against their opponents, which instills fear in individuals or groups of people in exercising their Natural and Constitutional Rights.
• Their use of loathsome pejoratives to exacerbate Divisiveness in America, which deconstructs A Civil Society in America, and inflames the passions of their supporters. An inflammation that gives rise to rage and physical violence against their opponents as morally justifiable actions, as they view their opponents as evil and a threat to America.

All of these words and deeds give rise to Despotism in America, which is truly evil. And in all of these words and deeds, they are violating our Natural and Constitutional Rights, violating our Liberties and Freedoms, as well as being antithetical to our American Ideals and Ideas. As such, they have become an evil party in America. As Mark Lewis has noted in his article, “But what we're witnessing today is different.”, and it is different in what we are seeing in the words and deeds of the modern Democrat Party. Words and deeds, not of a loyal opposition, but words and deeds that countenance, contravene, or infringe upon the Natural and Constitutional Rights of individuals in America. Consequently, the modern Democrat Party has become an evil party, and they should be opposed by all Americans who value the ideals and principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

12/20/25 You Should Not Weigh Good and Evil Equally

In my previous Chirp on, “12/20/25 Muslims and Islamists”, I quoted a professor as saying, “You should not weigh good and evil equally” when he discussed Islamism. But these words apply to all arenas of human life. As Shakespeare has said in Julius Caesar, “The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones”, so should you weigh evil deeds much more heavily than good deeds, as evil deeds persist and have negative consequences beyond the actual evil deed.

There are many levels of evil, from crimes against humanity to harm against an individual. But evil remains evil, regardless of how many people it affects. Many people commit evil acts, justifying them as being for the greater good, and then try to make up for their wrongdoing by doing good deeds. But no number of good deeds can undo the evil they have committed.

There are two major evils confronting the world today: Islamism, as I have discussed in the aforementioned Chirp, and Socialism, along with all its variants. Socialism is evil because it infringes on the Natural Rights and the Liberties and Freedoms of those living under it. And history shows that every time socialism has been implemented, it results in widespread poverty, misery, suffering, corruption, murder, malnutrition, and tyranny. In truth, socialism invariably leads to evil, regardless of how convincing the arguments for it may seem.

Alas, Progressives/Leftists and Democrat Party Leaders are embracing Socialism in their policies and political agendas. Although in the past they denied their socialism, today they are electing candidates with socialist agendas. Thus, they are becoming evil. This evilness is also reflected in their invectives and violence against those who oppose them. Their Ant-Semitic/pro-Palestine stances are also indicative of their evilness. They also have an anti-Christian attitude, and they wish to relegate Christianity to a private sphere and erase it from all public displays. Religion is anathema to them, and it plays no role in their decision-making. Thus, they have become unmoored from the virtues, morality, and ethics of Judeo-Christian values, which are the foundation of Western Civilization, as I have examined in my collected Chirps on "Western Civilization".

Only an evil person or group would engage in such evil words and deeds. Evil must be confronted and eliminated; otherwise, it will fester and grow, destroying a society or civilization. Consequently, the Progressives/Leftists and the Democrat Party Leaders must be confronted about their evilness and turned out of power to prevent the festering and growth of evil, which will destroy America.

01/02/26 Progressive Irrationality and Evilness

Melanie Phillips is a British journalist, author, and broadcaster. She was born and raised as a leftist and was once a favorite among the Left. However, she experienced a transformation and is now known for her conservative views and commentary on political and social issues. She has written for various publications, including The Times and The Jerusalem Post, and is recognized as a leading conservative voice in the media. In a podcast with Andrew Gold, The Psychology Behind Why the WOKE Left Can't Win Arguments – Melanie Phillips, she made some insightful comments on the progressive mindset.

“They really, really, really believe, and I know this because I was one of them, once they really believe that to be a progressive is to be on the moral High Ground. Why, because to be a progressive means you believe in things like the Brotherhood of Man, you believe in doing stuff to get rid of prejudice, and War, and bigotry, and you are anti-racist, and believe in the power of Reason. This is what you tell yourself, and consequently anybody who comes along and says, well, actually you're completely wrong, and far from actually ushering in an age of reason, you are ushering in an age of irrationality.”

In another podcast with John Anderson, The Disturbing Logic Of The Left | Melanie Phillips, she shared some astute comments on the Progressive mindset:

“The Western liberal mind conceives of itself as being good because it's liberal. The Western liberal tells him or herself I'm a good person because I'm liberal, which means that I believe in things like the Brotherhood of Man, conscience and compassion, looking after the wretched of the world, the poor, and standing up against abuses of power. These are all good things, and that's why I'm a liberal, and I'm a liberal because of all these good things. So, one of the expressions of my goodness and my liberalism is that I support the Palestinian Arabs, who I think are an oppressed people, and they are oppressed by the Israelis, who have taken their land away from them. And they are oppressing them now, every part of that in my view is a lie, but put that to one side, this is what the liberal Progressive thinks, and the liberal Progressive thinks that supporting the Palestinians is therefore something that makes the liberal Progressive a good person. October 7 happened. Suddenly, you have a situation in which the people that the liberal Progressive has supported as being oppressed, and everything they do is a legitimate defense or resistance against oppression. Suddenly, we can see that those people have turned into the most bloodthirsty savages that could ever be imagined. Not just people who kill, but who slaughter in a sadistic, barbaric, debauched, and depraved fashion that people can't imagine ever happening. They have slaughtered, raped, beheaded, tortured, burned alive babies and children, women, elderly men, and others, and in which the people that they have supported as being oppressed and good people because they're their victims are these savages. And the people they have represented as oppressors are the victims, and they can't have that. Because if they have that, if they admit that is the case, then their entire worldview is shattered, because the people they have supported as representing goodness are shown to be evil. And what does that make them? It makes them evil, so they can't have it. So what they do is they go to extraordinary lengths to pretend that black is white, that Justice is Injustice, that oppression is resistance and vice versa. So they have to represent the Israelis as being at fault, the Israelis are to blame for what's happened, So there is no better way of blaming people than accusing them of the very thing they are the victim of.”

We can therefore conclude that the modern Progressive has become irrational and malicious in their words and actions. In their self-righteousness, they are unaware of the consequences of their words and deeds, as they are in a state of Bonhoeffer Stupidity, as I have explained in my collected Chirps on "Bonhoeffer's Theory of Stupidity". Such a mindset is dangerous to the peace and safety of the world. It is also damaging to the values, principles, and culture of Western societies, as I have examined in my collected Chirps on "Western Civilization".

Consequently, modern Progressivism, while its intentions may seem noble, its consequences are anything but noble. In this, we must all remember that:

04/07/26 The Definition of Good and Evil

It is said that a society's morals and ethics shape its cultural values. It is also said that those who violate these values are either wrong or sick. Yet we rarely make judgments about the morals and ethics that shape a society. This occurs because many people do not want to be accused of bigotry (i.e., racial, religious, cultural, sexual, LGBTQIA+, xenophobia, etc.), or some form of “isms” often associated with oppressive or discriminatory attitudes (i.e., racism, sexism, ableism, classism, heterosexism, etc.). We also live in an era when people increasingly make moral judgments based on their emotions. But if feelings determine what is right and wrong, then whether murder, rape, theft, and vandalism are wrong is no more than a personal opinion. A personal opinion that can allow for such actions if the perpetrator feels that their behavior is justified.

A new book by Dennis Prager, “If There Is No God: The Battle Over Who Defines Good and Evil”, offers guidance for anyone seeking clarity in a morally complex era. It explores how people determine what is good and evil and why feelings can be enriching yet morally insignificant. Presented in a question-and-answer format, ordinary Americans ask Dennis Prager about God and His relationship with humans, drawing on his extensive study, contemplation, and teaching on the subject. As a result, it is this month’s Book It selection. In addition, I have also written a new article, On Good and Evil, which is a brief examination of the concepts of good and evil, and their impacts on society.

07/25/26 The Eradication of Evil

In the past, I have written many Chirps on evil, which I have collected into my Chirps on Evil. In this Chirp, I wish to examine one particular type of evil—the evil that countries do.

The evil of Nazism, Fascism, and Imperial Japan in the mid-20th century was an evil that needed to be eradicated. The evil inflicted by these ideologies caused great suffering and deaths among the peoples of Europe and throughout Asia. In the process of eradication, there was also much suffering and deaths among the peoples of Europe and Asia by the forces intent on eradicating this evil. Unfortunately, such is the nature of eradicating evil that it means much suffering and deaths on all sides involved, including peoples that had no involvement in the evil. However, if you do not thoroughly eradicate evil, then evil will arise from the ashes to fester and grow and cause more suffering and deaths.

The American people of this era understood that they were facing evil, and they bore the burdens of eradicating this evil. The sacrifice in lives, injuries, and treasury was not too much for them to bear, as they knew that evil must be eradicated for good to triumph. Today, we are facing another evil in the world—the evil of Iran. And make no mistake about it, Iran is evil. Evil in their suppression of the Natural Rights of their peoples, evil in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of their people, evil in their imprisonment of dissidents, and evil in their exporting terrorism to the Middle East and other parts of the world. And such an evil must never be allowed to possess nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons, for they would wreak destruction upon other countries of the world with these weapons. Nor should they be able to cause economic disruptions in the world, nor finance their evil through extortion or other means of extracting monies from other countries. This evil must be eradicated from Iran for good to triumph.

At the end of World War II, we did not negotiate a peace treaty with Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, or Imperial Japan; we dictated terms of surrender. Those terms were intended to eradicate evil in those countries and ensure that it would not survive to regrow and plague the world. So it must be the same with Iran, in which we dictate terms of surrender to eradicate its evil and ensure that evil will not regrow in Iran. Americans must be willing to bear the burdens of eradicating this evil; otherwise, the evil of Iran will regrow and plague future generations.

If Americans are unwilling to bear the burdens of eradicating this evil, whether by not risking deaths and injuries to our service people, or the costs of fighting this evil, or the economic impacts of fighting this evil, then we have become complicit in this evil. However, the history of America in combating evil is illustrious. Whether it be in our American Revolutionary War against British evils, the Civil War against the evils of slavery, or the evils of Nazism, Fascism, and Imperial Japan, Americans have demonstrated that they are willing to bear these burdens in the fight against evil. If we are unwilling to fight the evil of Iran, then we have lost our heritage and have become a materialistic nation unworthy of our heritage and ancestors. As such, we will be condemned by history as a failed nation, unworthy of the ideals and ideas upon which we were founded.

Let us, therefore, bear these burdens to eradicate the evil of Iran, and let us lead the world in the triumph of good over evil.

07/26/26 Judgment at Tehran

The movie ‘Judgment at Nuremberg’ is about a fictional American court in 1948-occupied Germany that tried four Nazis for war crimes. Specifically, the movie is about a trial three years after the most important Nazi leaders had already been tried. It concerns the trial of four people who used their judicial offices to carry out Nazi sterilization and cleansing policies, including an esteemed judge, Dr. Ernst Janning, as well as Prosecutor Emil Hahn, Administrator Werner Lampe, and Minister of Justice Dr. Karl Wieck, who are ably defended by the German lawyer Herr Rolfe. Retired American judge Dan Haywood has a daunting task ahead of him. The Cold War was heating up, and no one wanted more trials, as the German and Allied governments wanted to forget the past and focus on the present dangers.

The questions in this movie were about the culpability and responsibility for these crimes, the guilt of the defendants, and what constitutes proper justice for their acts. With the possible imminent fall of the Iranian regime and the eradication of their evil, as I have chirped on “07/25/26 The Eradication of Evil”, these same questions in the movie must be asked about the crimes of the remaining members of the Iranian regime. We cannot ignore these questions, for to ignore them is to excuse their crimes and risk the guilty regaining power in a new Iran.

Thus, as part of Iran's surrender, it is necessary that we establish a court in Tehran, Iran, to prosecute the crimes of the regime. A court composed of a tribunal of American judges who are not fearful of retaliation and will reach a proper verdict. A court that will fairly adjudicate the evidence and reach a judicious verdict. The sentencing of the guilty must also fit the crime, and some of their crimes are worthy of a death sentence, while other crimes may merit long prison sentences.

International participation in this court is not advisable, as other nations have been too supine in their words and deeds against the Iranian regime and too concerned about their internal politics, international relationships, and the economic impacts of challenging Iran. As this is a human rights issue, this court should consider only proper judicial procedures and violations of human rights in its decisions. To do otherwise is to corrupt the concept of equal justice and human rights.

Consequently, it is important that this court be ordained in the terms of surrender, and that it be established and maintained until justice is served.
